About the mold: The Firebird’s combination of superior speed and stability make it possible to throw drives into the wind with confidence. An excellent disc for throwing long range flex shots. A favorite of sidearm and overhead throwers, too. This disc is designed for professional level players.
Some notes on the plastic: The plastic of this Pro Firebird is not the same as modern Pro plastic. From 2000 to 2002 Innova made a unique translucent blend of plastic and called it Champion Edition. Then, from 2003 to 2004 the name changed to Pro Line or Candy Pro. In 2004 the name of this blend was changed to Champion and that’s the name they stuck with. As a result, there is a lot of confusion between Champion Edition, Pro Line, Candy Pro, and Champion. Additionally, there are variations within each blend ranging from opaque, pearly, and firm to crystal clear, soft, and gummy, to cloudy and tacky. Pearly, stiff Pro Line reportedly tends to be more overstable whereas the gummy, clear Pro Line are usually a bit touchier and the cloudy, tacky Pro Line falls right in the middle.
